The way fire types are handled is unfair, I agree

water types for instance can learn ice type moves to cover their weakness to grass (which in turn makes dedicated Ice types even more useless) and ground types can learn rock type moves like stone edge to cover the flying immunity

fire types on the other hand are almost always restricted entirely to fire moves without a decent second typing that can deal with their all too common weaknesses. I think they should be able to learn electric type moves as well

Yeah man.

I mean, it's really not a stretch for ANY fire type to learn Thunderbolt or Discharge.
That covers the water weakness, but there should be some move for firetypes especially (maybe even a STAB attack) that will help them with rock and ground types.

Eh, the Fairy thing is just passe to me, because Dragon's dominance wasn't that big of a deal and could have been abated with more attacks that target dragons.

Making a new type is the easy way out imo.
