In Gen 1 you have Pidgeot. Without the current powercreep he is decent, not very powerful but strong enough to not be deadweight.
Then comes Gen 2 with Noctowl. Marginally betetr than Pidgeot, he also has a few new tricks like Hypnosis.
Then off to Gen 3 we go with based Swellow that steps IT up. Sanic fast, Guts, he's great
And then Gen 4 happens and with him the monster known as Staraptor, destroying Platinum, with Steel-type being incapable os stop his murderous rage.
Then there's Unfenzant, which is a little better than Pidgeot. Of course that doesn't mean shit because of the power creep. It's pretty dissapointing.
You can also exect people to hate on Vivillon once the initial hype dies down. Because if he becomes the likes of Beautifly he'll be pretty dissapointing coming from Leavanny and Scolipede
