We probably won't be able to import from Gen V, too much shit to reconcile between them.

Besides, it allows Game Freak to make another half dozen games for us to buy so we can catch 'em all.

That'd be horrible. I'd love to be able to get a Pokemon from the original Gen 2(or Gen 1? Not sure if that's possible) games all the way up to the new ones and see them in 3DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD-

There probably will be cross gen shit but I would be happy even without it.

Considering Kalos is big enough to warrant not two but THREE Pokedex sections, it must be big enough to have at least some previous Pokemon. Maybe they could make X have a shitton ton and Y have a shitton, so the version exclusives are like hundreds instead of about 6 like it normally is.

In the Roundtable Q & A they said they're trying to think of a solution, since they can't make DS and 3DS games interact with each other. Perhaps something internet based like the Dream World?
I personally wouldn't mind starting fresh, however.

You can't trade from Gameboy to Gameboy Advance, so Gen 1 + 2 are pretty much dead generations. You can migrate from Gen 3 to Gen 4 to Gen 5 and probably to Gen 6 as well.
