How come now Fairy type is balancing the metagame? At most only Fairy types can OHKO Dragons due to STAB. Ice is still a better coverage option for the rest.

Because fairy type itself may be immune to dragon. The primary problem with dragon types are their neutral coverage since only one type resists them.

Anon, you realize that stab IS the single reason why it's going to fuck dragons in the ass, right?

STAB is a straight up 50% bonus. That is basically the boost of a choice item. Ice was never going to live up to that because having STAB on Ice meant you actually had to BE the shitty type. Even so, most Ice type pokemon were designed to be defensive (the hell was GF thinking?) anyway, so that also ruins Ice for STAB.

Basically, the new fairies are going to be able to pick up a new Super Effective STAB move to slap dragons' shit with without losing out on good typing.

Things that will make Fairy a balanced type:

1. A resistance(or I guess immunity?) to dragon
2. Resisted by ice
3. Resisted by poison
4. Weakness against metal, but metal types do not resist fairy. This will allow more usage of metal type moves without increasing usage of metal type pokemon too much, because honestly metal types are just as ubiquitous as dragon types
5. Weakness against rock, so nintendo will finally realize that stealth rock screws up the metagame and does something about it

Game Freak literally said that they introduced the type SPECIFICALLY to deal with Dragon's power. Thus, they DO pay attention to our metagame and wanted to design partly based on that. Knowing that, they would not make fairy weak to water.

In addition, they need a flavor reason for it. In ancient lore, Dragons were the servants of Fairies, so that makes sense, but there is no mythical water weakness for fairies.

Not all of the second leak is bullshit. Part of it (specifically the top part) was actually leaked together with the first leak by the source before WPM had it. Pic related. The rest is likely bullshit though because some of the information is from when they were trying to make the source look like he was a liar (the kanto starters shit).
