I thought it was flying for a while because of its opposition to jolteon in that wheel of eeveelutions. Then I got on the fairy train when multiple leakers kept saying it was fairy, and when GF refused to reveal its type. Seemed like it would be an anti-climax for them to hype the type and then just be like 'oh, it's just flying. trololol.'

I thought it would be normal because of its very cute, very pink design, prior to learning to about the fairy theory/rumor. I was still skeptical till it was confirmed though as an entirely new type seemed like such a big change for the Pokemon world this late in the game series.

The bug, ghost and flying ideas didn't even occur to me till other people started giving their reasons. Though all of them were seriously stretching it...Like Sylveon being bug because of its big eyes and bows (why would a bug wear other bugs as accessories?), ghost for its ribbons possible being bandages, or flying just cause the creature is drawn all wind-swept.

It was probably wishful thinking at first, we always think of new types whenever a new gen arrives, but things started to be different when all these things started to happen.

Last week's Smash (I believe) line "Pokemon battling history is about to change" was the final nail in the koffing. From that point onwards it was hilarious to see people still deny the addition of the type.

That was it. I don't get this new type, I don't understand how fairies are stronger than dragons (call me retarded if you will, but dragons are supposed to be immortal giant creatures, and fairies are small imps.). I don't get it how a small thing is supposed to be 2x against a dragon.
Also, Sylveons still looks hideous to me. And it makes no sence that Marill is a Fairy type (you can say that being in the Fairy egg group is a reason, but it's not an enough reason to me. It's a water mouse, ffs, it looks nothing like a fairy).

I predicted Fairy type before Sylveon was announced, though I had no idea there was even going to be Gen 6 as soon as this year let alone a new eeveelution. Fairy type just made sense from the Norse mythology in B/W, it was partially gut instinct too.

It was pretty easy to work out though once Sylveon had been announced in corocoro, the hype was far too much for an existing type, an eeveelution is the perfect test-drive for a new type and it's name relates to Fairies in every language, especially German.

I figured this out the night the leaks showed up on /vp/. Once Hiro and WPM started throwing the word around I knew it was confirmed for sure. I was a staunch Fairy supporter right from the beginning and it feels orgasmic to see it right there on the official page after endless debates, troll posts and shitstorms.
