Hahaha oh wow. The dragon/steel combo will now contain a bit more steel then before and dragons will still reign supreme. All I have to do now is click on something else than instawin outrage with my massively overpowered 600 BST dragons and fairies won't take much more than 2 hits. muh bros Magnebrozone, febrothorn and metabross will destroy any fairy that will and dragons will still beat you.

IVe said it before. GF doesnt REALLY give a fuck about the balance. Its not like nothing has ever been super effective against dragon before what with almost all dragons still being dual-type, giving them additional weaknesses or giving them less resistance.

Atleast GF tried by adding an additional threat for dragons but it certainly isnt gonna make dragons much less viable.

Actually immunity to Dragon does, their whole claim to fame is that nothing can take their attacks except Steel. Means there is absolutely no drawbacks to spamming Draco Meteor or getting locked into Outrage.

Thing is, unless Fairy IS definitely immune to Dragon, Ice will still be a more viable offence against the majority of Dragons anyway.

And yet Dragons have diverse movepools and any competent player will just kill a fairy with Steel moves from another pokemon or sheer coverage from the living Dragon. Unless Fairies are just as diverse the metagame is still (more) about dragon killing than anything else.

Not confirmed yet. Would change things more if it were. Doesnt sound so bad though. Draco Meteor is just like any other powerfull special move but Outrage is the definition of mindless spamming.

But lets not forget that dragon generally also have really good stats and have access to a lot of coverage. Like OP said, lots of dragons are now gonna be walking around with lots of Iron Tail and similar.

if fairy has a powerful (90bp) physical move, I could see azumarril being incredibly dangerous to the metagame

especially if fight and dark are also weak against it like the rumors

its water type would resist the SE iron tail combined with its good HP allowing it to survive quite a few hits, its STAB water moves take care of a lot of types that would switch in on fairy moves and its attack is still beastly

Fairy is immune to dragon. Ice types are already shit and their only niche was being the only type to be super effective against dragons (without battling dragons with other dragons). With fairies taking over their place ice types will be brought even further down.

If gamefreak actually cares about balance they should nerf stealth rock and weather to allow more types to thrive. Ironically, nerving rocks and weather would indirectly benefit dragons, but the new fairy type should balance this out.

This would be ideal IMO. Weather induced by Drizzle, Drought, Sand Stream or Snow Warning should just last 5 turns and Swift Swim, Chlorophyll and Sand Rush should increase speed by 1,5x, not 2x and it will be more balanced.

Very unlikely many will use Iron Tail, bad accuracy will always bite you in the ass and it's not even that powerful. It's true dragons have great stats but what some like to ignore is without STAB most of them actually fail to score vital kills. What it does is it forces them to play more smartly which is a good thing and more than enough to put them into check.

I think a lot of people just don't realize how powerful dragons are. 120 or 140 power boosted by STAB is 180 or 210 power. Flamethrower is 95 power and if Super Effective is 190 power, that's right a super effective Flamethrower is weaker than a STAB Draco Meteor which means there is no fucking point in predicting anyway.

Then you consider you have crap like Haxorus and Kyurem-B running about, worst that can happen to them is Outraging a Steel type. Oh guess what? It's still a 90 power attack flying off a 147 base attack.

A second dragon resist or a immunity was long overdue and hopefully if the rumours hold true as they have done so far. Fairy is indeed immune to dragons actually adding a worst case scenario for them.

Wouldn't help it get past the ultimatebro if the rumours hold true. Or Celebi, so nothing really changes the same things still stop Azu dead in it's tracks. All it'd mean is Azumarill is more useful than before and no longer a generic Water type.

I think when people hear that fairies are supposed to help balance the metagame by being strong against dragons, they somehow instead hear that fairies are supposed to destroy dragons and make them useless.

Dragons will still be good, it just helps to have an additional type to combat them, especially against outrage if the immunity is correct.

The thing that Azumaril even NEEDS to be a contender is a fucking Priority fairy move.

Otherwise every physical attack tank walls it hard core.

It's even likely using it's resistance to Gyro Ball, Bronzong can viably force a fucking switch, not even mentioning fucking Ferrothorn.
