No old pokemon (besides fairies) will be getting retyped. Your precious charizard will never be fire/dragon.

anyway, I just recently found out that politoed isn't water/psychic. who knew.

precedence. The only exception was the rotom forms, and this was a special case since they were added halfway through the generation. Had they originally been their current types, it would've fucked up cross-game play between Platinum and D/P, because, for example, Rotom-W would appear as electric/water in Platinum but electric/ghost in Diamond. battles wouldn't work.
