I finally have Black 2, /vp/.
So, the question is, which Pokémon should I start with?

Any recommendations as to which Pokémon I should aim at catching? I haven't really played enough of this gen to know which ones are decent. I know a lot of you like Scraggy but that's about it.

Get riolu at the ranch. Once it evolves into lucario, it is pretty good.

Since you plan on getting Riolu, I'd go with Oshawott. I personally have loved using Snivy since the beginning and have had no issues with him being a monster during my playthroughs, but a lot of people seem to complain about him being shit because he doesn't fit their playstyle, so I'd stay away from him until you got used to gen V. Unless you've already played it, I guess.

Get a Drilbur as soon as you get to Castelia.

BW2 is terrible with keeping good Pokemon unavailable until very late game, but Excadrill will absolutely maul most everything in the game.

I have played Black, and I used Snivy for that then I restarted using Oshawatt. I just don't know many decent 'Mons and I need a good team, because I didn't really bother when I played Black.

BW2 has some beastly poison types. I highly reccomend Scolipede or Roserade.

I'd go with Oshawott as it's a long time until you get a good water type. Definitely get riolu. Roselia is a great grass type and you get the shiny stone before Clay.

Fire types are generally the hardest to come by between starting and late game, though Water types are fairly scarce as well in BW2. Since there's no Rock gym at the start to wall Fire types, I'd say go Tepig
