Has there ever been romance in the pokemon games? I don't mean with the player trainer but just the other characters or NPCs
besides the random trainer couples

Lots of little no-name NPCs mention things like boy/girlfriends, wives and husbands, and even pregnancy. It's pretty common.

I think the most romance speculation I saw was in Gen 5, mostly between N and the player character. The Ferris wheel didn't exactly help matters.

Hugh and Rosa also seemed like a possibility for some reason.
