Why say that Lilligant will get a Fairy type when Whimsicott is already in the Fairy egg group while Lilligant is not?
I prefer Whimsicott to get the Fairy type over Lilligant.

I dunno about you but I don't want my precious Whimsicott weak to Bullet Punch. Lilligant would probably benefit more from the typing with her offensive nature.

Well, Whimsicott can be male & female, but Lilligant is pure-female, so it make sense

Braviary and Mandibuzz are counterparts, though Mandibuzzs can't have Braviary's babbies.
