Fuck this. Can someone give a logical explanation as to why we are still having the bleepy bloopy cries of yesteryear and not upgrading them?

Well, if they went ahead and gave Mewtwo a makeover, I don't see how updated cries would be much worse.

I mean, come on, it's 2013, the game is full 3D, the battles are awesome, and we're still using 8-bit cries. That's like using RBY sprites on XY

It's simpler even than nostalgia. See, the midi track sounds can easily be made en masse by one person.

If you want updated cries, that will require either going back and remaking them, or giving them voice-acted cries, which is more expensive than sticking with what we have already.

It boils down to, "Nintendo is cheap as hell, and doing nothing is easier and cheaper than doing anything else." Same reason the games all have the same plot; it would cost money to hire writers to make a better one.
