I don't like baby Pokemon either. They're usually pointless from a gameplay standpoint and I hate how you need to go out of your way to get specific items just to get them from eggs. The only reason I understand why people would want more pre-evos is if they play little cup and want more Pokemon variety.

Baby pokemon DO have a reason to be though, and that's to let them use what would be late-game pokemon earlier. (i.e. if Lapras got a prevo, then you would be able to find it early- to mid- in-game, allowing you to train Lapras from there instead of waiting to late-game when it's probably underleveled already).

Some of the baby pokemon are completely useless though.
