and I just noticed I left out a line. Basically, the other two characters not associated with your starter will either not obtain a starter Pokemon, or not fight you periodically through the game like the other two rivals.

I was sorta thinking her hair might reflect Fenn's ears as well, but it seemed to dissimilar to me. Who knows, maybe a later evolution?

Yes, so it's most likely that everyone will get starter Pokemon, however we've yet to know if all of them will challenge you as rivals throughout the entirety of the game. I know on the site as well on the French version iirc, suggested the beginning battle would be a multi battle, so that's at least one fight in the beginning.

Shauna will get an Eevee to evolve into Sylveon. Tierno will get the remaining starter. Trevor will either get another Eevee, a psuedo-legendary, or no pokemon at all.

Yeah, I was either thinking they'd all get starters or it'd only be You, Callum/Serena, and Trevor/Shauna/Tierno based on your choice.
For example, you choose Chespin, so Callum gets Fennekin, meaning the third trainer will be Tierno with Froakie. Trevor and Shauna, with that being the case, wouldn't get the starters, but probably some other Pokemon.

Opposite gender character gets the type advantage starter if they really are the serious rival, the weak one otherwise.

The three other friends get unrelated Pokemon.

An unrevealed character would be seen with the third starter, possibly a more antagonistic character.

That's what I'm thinking I think there will be two sets of starters. Trevor (Chespin), Shauna (Fennekin) & Tierno (Froakie) started together and already have there starters when you meet them. I think that the ogmc will have the starter weak to you and a currently unknown "true rival" will show up soon after the beginning with the starter strong against yours and will hopefully be a Gary/Silver kind of rival, competitive and jerkish.
