Why is it bad if it goes on PVP? Raising your Pokémon's bond to maximum level doesn't sound worse than grinding EVs or breeding IVs but people spend hours on that?

We don't know how extreme of a difference it will make. The problem with double team/minimize is the fact that it's extremely easy to abuse due to snowballing. Hell, items like brightpowder are fair game in Smogon's meta.
If the evasion bonus is minimal, and maybe if they buff crits to ignore evasion modifiers, I could see Smogon embracing this.

I really hope that this isn't a thing. I hope the bonuses from pokemon-amie are small and if possible only aesthetic. I don't want to catch a new 'mon and think "K, now I just have to play pattycake with them for a couple hours until they're at full strength"

Its really your fault if you let them stack up +6 evasion, that's three turns mimumum.
Say you miss twice after they hit double team using any move that doesn't have the highest accuracy but will still hurt the opponent is really your fault.

Fire Blast versus Flamethrower isn't much of an average damage difference (fire blast is a point or so higher), plenty of people will use Flamethrower or Surf over Fire Blast or Hydro Pump for reliable damage (sometimes you don't need the full power, you just need the move to hit).

Focus Blast (and Stone Edge) are a different matter, since there's no viable alternatives for these moves.
