So, hypothetically, let's say the Pikachu line becomes Electric/Fairy. Let's also assume they get at least one decent Fairy-type Special Attack.

Would that make Raichu competitively viable?

No. Wouldn't Raichu gain more weaknesses for that single Immunity? Weak to Fighting(?), Steel, and Poison. Steel Types are going to become more prominent and their may be a rise in Poiso n Type Pokemon and Poison Type Moves. I think it may make it worse. Other Fairy types will be better than Raichu and it wont have a niche of any kind.

I'd rather them leave Raichu alone and just give Pikachu a Split evo that's Fairy/Electric instead of Retyping the Entire line. Kind of Like Ralts Kirlia being Psychic, Gallade and Gardevoir being Psychic/Fighting, Psychic/Fairy Respectively.

This. So it would only gain weaknesses to Fighting(?) and Poison, while gaining whatever resistances and super-effectiveness that Fairy offers. It also wouldn't necessarily need to carry Hidden Power Ice anymore.

I'd imagine a good Raichu spread would look something like:

Raichu@Life Orb
Timid Nature
252 SpA/252 Spe/4 HP
-Nasty Plot
-Thunderbolt
-Fairy Move
-Grass Knot

Raichu is slow and can't take a hit for shit. That turn that Raichu uses Nasty Plot to set up it will get EQ'd, Stone Edge'd, or hit by Spore. These common moves from just about anying in OU will murder it in cold blood.

I don't know, Anon. I think they'll be a better list of Fairy Types to choose from than Raichu but the entire list ain't out yet.

Also, as there is going to be a rise in the use of Steel and Poison Types, Ground Types are going to be more useful so a lot more EQ's. Raichu may be a little bit too risky.

Don't forget it isn't hard to outspeed 100 base. Anyone with Garchomp could switch it in and OHKO with Earthquake just because it's a few points higher.
