Scattug for one is practically a poop joke, and Talame is shortened too much to give anything away about the pokemon it belongs to.

They increased the character limit. One of the French names is 12 characters. Not sure if that's the limit or not but if you drop one of the T's or L's it fits: Scaterpillar/Scatterpilar

Also, OP, you're a retard and your argument befits that. A lot of old Pokémon names were just words spelled incorrectly (Seel, Muk,) whereas others were just two words slapped together i.e Voltorb, simply two separate nouns connected. Talonflame is also two nouns connected. Sandshrew - simply Sand and Shrew connected. They've been doing this since the birth of Pokémon and they won't ever stop.
