Dragons aren't the reason I don't like fairy type.
Sexual insecurity isn't the reason I don't like fairy type.
I don't like the fairy type because it sounds lame.
Plain and simple, it sounds fucking stupid.
They could have made SO MANY OTHER TYPES, and they made Fairy.

Sound is the only type that made more sense.

Light type is pretty weak, there aren't many pokemon or moves that can be retconned for it. Certainly not as many as you can for Fairy. Same for Alien/Cosmic type, most of those pokemon are already covered by Psychic type.

Fairy makes sense, and there's plenty of Fairy-like material already in the series.

I don't really see it sounding stupid, really. It sounds like something that could honestly fit. We already have a Fairy egg group and a couple Pokemon that are known as the Fairy Pokemon. Though, just because it's the name of an egg group doesn't mean much in terms of predicting types.

For the most part, though, Ghost and Dragon are of a similar vein to Fairy in that at the root of things, they sound like specific things.

If it were Ghost that was recently revealed, then we'd have complaints from people who would think that the name was stupid. Though there wouldn't be as much of a stigma issue. Fairy wouldn't have a problem if it had already been a type to begin with.
