Now that I have nothing to do in my Pokemon games until XY I'm going to start playing around with the Pokeradar

How many shiny Pokemon have you found using this method? How long does it usually take you to find one swarm Pokemon?

Any tips tricks?

What I meant was how long does it take to find a shiny Pokemon while its swarming.

Most of the tutorials are telling me its easier to find a swarm Pokemon then a specific one since they are more common while swarming

Swarm Pokémon are easier to find, yes. They appear only in sparkling grass, though.
The chance to find a shiny pokémon rises until a chain of 40 Pokémon, after that you just want to reset until you see the shiny grass (= going 100 steps w/o pokemon encounter, resetting the radar, looking for a shiny and do all that again)

My longest chain was 64 voltorb, second was 63 natu and third 41/47 (dunno) the gen IV bug pokemon, dunno the English name

I've caught about 20 different species, but I usually just go into some grass and do it for fun rather than looking for anything in particular, so I have loads of Starlies...

i think the odds are 1/200 whether you've 40 or 50+ pokemon chained so why risk to break the chan

Not long, iirc they're about a 40% encounter rate. Really easy if it's something you can magnet pull/static

It takes a lot to make the chains long enough, and I've got to 40 just once, chaining a Snover, when by mistake I run into the 41th and then at the 42nd a Swinub broke my chain.

Best place to start is the route below Jubilife in the big patch of grass with a fainted static pokémon at the front of your party, look for Shinx

Been on the 40th chain reseting radar attempts for about 1 hour and 45 minutes, 23200 steps, and I still haven't found anything

I keep getting the feeling like I got it but didnt see it

Learn RNG abuse instead.

After you get the hang of it you can breed a perfect shiny Pokemon in the time it would take you to chain one with a random nature and random IVs.

I got like 5 bronzors (could get more but I was getting sick of them to be honest), 4 voltorbs, beldum. I think something else too, but I don't remember what. Steels and electrics are easier because you can put a magnet pull/that other ability that attracts steal/electrics (check the bulbapedia, don't remember exact names, also that pokemon can be fainted in the first position).

The furthest grass is usually the best, better reset then sorry when they're in clusters. Never go UP after resetting, there may be a patch you didn't notice if you've only seen 3 and patches next to you have high fail probability.

Don't think you're done when you've encountered it. Lowest capture rate, yay. I ended up using my masterball on the fucker. You really gotta press your luck. Sure, you can use a lefties/black sludge(sandstorm) ghost to prevent it from taking itself down, but after 20 attacks it struggles itself to death. (try to keep it asleep
Best performance seems to be dusk ball at night(timer might overtake it within 20 turns, but let's keep it simple). It gives 7.1% change, which is an average of 14.1 turns, but expect a lot more.

Really, if there's anything the master ball is worth saving for, it's a shiny beldum.

I got my first shiny through the Pokeradar, a Lickitung caught it on 7/7/07 <<3, then a shiny Staravia on a mere chain of 9, and then 2 shiny Shinx (but I traded one to a friend).
Although I used cloned [possibly cheated and cloned] Masterballs on a couple of them...
But seriously, getting a chain of anything above 30 and getting it ended is soul-crushing.

Not him but you can RNG abuse in retail cartridges just fine

I've only done it in Diamond but I heard that in gen V it's easier
to hatch a shiny all you need is determine your seed by capturing a high level 'mon, putting that shit in RNG reporter and then click your poketch a bunch of times

decided to give it another try but this I time kept changing the date until the swarm was Snubull so I could try to get a shiny that will be a Fairy type in Gen 6

End up catching it on the first try!!!
The grass didn't even shine it was just a lucky one

I named it Oberon after the Fairy King. Dont care if its female.

It has a shitty nature and shitty ability unfortunately. Heres to hoping that it gets a special attacking split evo!

Am I the only guy that has like tens of shinies from this? With random encounters, trades, and chaining I have over 100 shinies.

I got around two boxes of shinies out of it, though most of them were from the same chain so many duplicates. It's really simple once you get the hang of it.

The only "tips" I know would be a quick google search to tell you.

Bring a fuck ton of repels.
