Is there a HeartGold/SoulSilver hack that works as a FireRed/LeafGreen remake of sorts?

As in, you start in Pallet Town, etc, using the same Kanto map found in the HGSS postgame.

It honestly surprises me that no one thought of/made this yet!
Specially since it looks so simple, compared to other hacks. The maps are all there, I think it just takes a bit of programming to make the player start in Pallet, etc, no?

Actually, I'm fairly certain someone was working on a project like this some time ago. I don't know what became of it, but the idea isn't new.

There are texture hacks for fire red that use HGSS sprites(for the overworld). Not the same map though(I assume it is smaller, like in gen 2)

The problem with a straight porting of the map is that it's been edited so severely for simplicity. You'd have to completely redo areas like Mt. Moon, and areas like Cerulean City would need to be relaid in order to keep the game pacing correct (cutting off areas until later, etc)

Well, then edit just those areas, then. It's better than building the whole map from scratch.

And I don't get what you're saying about Cerulean city. Wouldn't creating/editing events to block areas like the Cerulean Cave enough?
