Hell, at that point we could say Gen 1 Venusaur without abilities and Gen 3 Sceptile/Blaziken as well.
OP doesn't specify anything. You can use Pokemon in any situation, whether it be competitive or in-game. But there's clearly reason to use starters in-game and competitively, which you don't even seem to be arguing for, with your contradictory examples and walking goalposts.
