answer, as always is little kids.

Little kids won't get the difference and are more likely to spell it "FAIRY". It's just the most universally known spelling and means pretty much the same thing to anyone who isn't a mythology major. boy I sure do get a lot out of that degree!

Well the leak has been right about a new type, air battles, elsctric type giga drain, and names before they were officially revealed, among other things. It's pretty much confirmed, we just need Ninty to officially confirm it.

Considering that fairy originates from the Fae or 'Fair Folk', they should've been called the Seelie, after the 'good' fair folk of Celtic myth.

And Ghosts should've been called Shades, since that's what they called them in Ancient Greece.

And Dragons should be called Serpents or Wyrms, that's what they were usually called in antiquity and Germanic myths, 'dragon' coming into use in the 13th century.

I know, I was joking because OP is kind of autistic for specifically saying Fairy should be Faerie on whatever grounds. If you want to stick to the 'old' spelling then it would have to be Seelie. If you want it to be recognized it would be Fairy.

Faerie is a poor attempt at 'ye olde magick' which is mostly a modern convention to give it an aesthetic.

Grass is a specific type of plant. Tropius isn't based on grass, its based on a banana bushel. Cherrim is a cherry. Victreebel on pitcher plants. Those are plants. Not grass. Although, with Parasect and Amoongus 'plant' doesn't really work that well. I guess 'Nature' might work.

Steel for similar reasons; Steel is made artificially, right? Bronzong is made of bronze. Aggron is probably made of iron. Lots of metals, not all of them steel.
