why would ash catch a pokemon? why would he do that? it's not like that's the whole point of the whole series.

The whole point of the anime is to promote the brand every single week. (Twice if you include Smash)

For older people who for some reason still watch it because they think it should constantly be progressing, maybe, but non of the episodes are technically a waste of time as they do want they're made for.

Ash hasn't caught anything in a year and a half. He hasn't evolved anything in a year. The last capture was by Iris, last July.

Good fucking God, Best Wishes has bad filler even by Pokémon anime standards. FUCKING CATCH SOMETHING OR EVOLVE SOMETHING OR BATTLE SOMEONE PROPERLY WITHOUT N STEPPING IN TO STOP IT.

At least the Orange Islands and the Battle Frontier got to have halfway interesting battles and quests. There's been fucking nothing here.

On topic, these filler episodes that feature Dunsparce, Butterfree, etc. might still mean they appear in X&Y in some capacity. I'm not a fan of Dunsparce, but there's still hope, Spracefags.
