Comet the Kingdra. I was playing with the rules if you encounter anything you already caught you get an unlimited number of retries to find one that you haven't caught. Well, in one of the Seafoam Island caves is a floor where you can only encounter Krabby's, Magikarps, and Horseas. Well, even though Horsea was only a 3% encounter I already had a Krabby and a Magikarp, so I enjoyed that. Comet quickly became a beast, especially once becoming a Kingdra. When it got to the E4 I didn't want to rick the lives of all my Pokemon, and I really didn't want to have to train every one of them up 10 levels each (they were all level 43 or so) so I just raised Comet up to level 63 and solo'd the whole Pokemon league with him. He got too strong to fast though, and for a while I tried not to use him because he was so far ahead of the rest of my team. Like the rest of my main team minus Ladyfire he died at the hands of Red.
Spiff the Clefairy. After Clankers and Broncanus died I needed new Pokemon to replace them. I found 1 to fill the spot but never another while in Jhoto. After beating the Pokemon league I decided that that spot would be filled by a Snorlax, so I kept it empty until I could catch the Snorlax. Unfortunatly, Swirelz the Poliwrath got a critical Submission on Snorlax, killing it in 1 hit so I had to find something else. I went to Mt. Moon to try and get a Clefairy and I was lucky enough to run into one. It was male so I named it Spiff after Spaceman Spiff from Calvin and Hobbes. I was surprised with how well he did as a clefairy, and I decided to keep metronome on him when he pulled out 3 great moves in a row against Misty. He died against Red when he metronomed and used Explosion. Probably the only reason I beat that Snorlax.
