I just cought my 1 pokeradar shiny. Pic related. However it took me 2 days. Getting chain of 40 was only half way for shiny. I tought it was much easier. Any advices for someone who just started pokeradar hunt for shinies? Also shinies general.

I haven't had any shiny safari heartache or lack-of-concentration stories, though I did see a shiny meowth (the only shiny I saw in LeafGreen) in the battle tower; that kind of sucked.
As far as chaining goes, I've only ever succeeded with Bidoof, Geodude and Starly.

Chaining feels like cheating. It took me about 1 hour to find 4 shiny corsola when I wanted one. The only reason I pokeradar shinies is to trade.

it doesn't change the formula in which a Pokemon can be shiny, it uses the same 1/8192 formula, it just loops through it with new random numbers up to 8 extra times. if any of the new random numbers make it shiny with the 1/8192 formula then it uses that number so the Pokemon is shiny. the amount of time it takes an egg to hatch, you can fly through way more than 8 wild Pokemon. so wild encounters is technically the fastest way to obtain a shiny.

I've been playing pokeymans since rby, only emcountered 2 shinies, both in SS. A pidgey that I caught and a nidoran m that I accidemtally murdered. Shit sukcs.

Chaining never really worked for me, thebhighest I got was chain 4 or something.

It is determined if its shiny or not the moment you get it from ol guy so you can take 5 of them, take one slugma to party and hatch all 5 and if no shiny you just reset and repeat

The point is to save before getting the eggs. That way all five eggs will be randomized.

In BW2 the first egg will always have the same IVs and nature though.

The first egg is the same because you're saving after the egg is created.
It's faster to pick up 5 eggs, hatch them, release them, pick up 5 more eggs, repeat.

When i was RNG abusing i had the impression that the seed you start with doesn't change so technically it'd be faster to keep hatching eggs than softresetting

lets say your shiny seed is 1000, this means that the 1000th egg you hatch will be shiny as every egg advance the seed by 1 and the number wont reset till you turn off the game

if you reset basically you'll get a random seed everytime so your odds of hatching an egg are 5/8129(or 2000 if MM)

those are my assumptions though

I had the same pokemon get pokerus TWICE. I shit you not. Starmie that was transferred to HGSS, which was already cured of pokerus. I saved right before using the pokecenter so I reset and checked again. Sure enough, it had the smiley face and then got pokerus again.

My first chained shiny was a Shinx, too, on around 35th? I don't remember now but it was pretty cool.
I chained a couple of shiny Girafarig yesterday, not bad. Didn't realize how similar it really is to the original, though.
I'm running out of things to chain, though, I've chained most of what I wanted.
A few off the top of my head are Machop, Geodude, Magnemite, Meditite, Miltank, Chatot, and plenty more that I don't really need to list.

As for random shinies, I've run into a shiny Lairon, Tentacruel, and Piloswine and hatched a shiny Larvitar, Gible, Staryu, and Shroomish.
I also released the shiny Clamperl I had been MMing for without realizing it.

There is a glitch in 4th gen where if you have a 'mon with cute charm in the first slot of your party the odd of finding a shiny are like 4/10 or something, meaning that every other poke you encounter will be shiny

however you need specific combinations of ID/SID so without cheating is very rare to see

This is not true at all, it differs per person.
I'd say you can obtain the level of maturity at 12 that an 18 year old doesn't have yet. As for me, I keep 'developing' maturity, so I won't know when I peak. Or if there will ever be a peak.

My shiny luck got much better in white 2 due to the shiny charm, but it can still take quite a while to get what you want. I got a shiny drifloon on my second egg using MM, and then tried on and off to hatch a shiny swablu for golden altaria goodness. After about 3500 encounters plus 737 eggs, I finally got one today! It took just over a week.

I've had a reasonable amount of luck with shinies. Tried chaining a bit w/o success, but pretty much every game I've played through I've got one or two shinies off.

Managed to k/o a shiny chincinno while level grinding in White 2 a couple of months back because I wasn't paying attention, that was a bummer though.

I've gotten shiny Ralts and a shiny Beldum. As I recall, Beldum became easier with magnet pull, but that route is a bitch because of the sandstorm.
Be careful with Ralts... After getting chain to 40 and taking my time catching two shinies (both female...wanted that Gallade), the third one teleported on me. Saved my game and said thanks to Arceus

Started chaining after 2 years of not touching my Pearl cartridge, got a Surskit chain up to 30 and then a Bidoof broke it for no apparent reason... perfect patch location, no other patches nearby.

Well, at least I could go water some berries.

I'd actually like to try chaining Beldum, but I feel I need to get at least one successful chain shiny from an easier patch before I go all out in the sandstorm.
Is there a ghost type that resists sandstorm in gen 4? That'd help against pesky Beldums.
