Food

No.12747946 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Ok, so in the Pokemon universe, what is food made of? In the anime (and I think manga) you see Pokemon eating pellets of unidentified foodstuffs, and you'll occasionally see people eating some sort of meat or generic looking fish. Are there non-pokemon types of animals that are food animals, like cows that aren't Miltank or fish that aren't Goldeen/Magikarp/etc?

I mean, in the wild we can assume pokemon eat each other, in Pokedex entries it talks about Pidgeys eating Caterpies and other pokemon being carnivorous. And humans have to eat some kind of meat, right? Do you think there are non-pokemon animals or do you think the burgers are made of Miltank?

I'm genuinely curious, I find it interesting from a sociology standpoint. It's kind of like the fact that Western countries keep dogs as pets and blanch a the thought of dogmeat, but in Eastern countries it's ok to eat the same things that might be living in your room. Same goes for Horses and other "pet animals".

Do you think it's an Eastern mentality thing? Where they can separate the animal they've bonded with against a similarly looking one that could be dinner?
