Speedy, above average defenses and can setup Sword Dance/Calm Mind easily.

Because 4/5 grass starters have been defensive, probably for the same reason they keep trying to make bulky ice types. But of all the bulky grass starters Serperior is my favorite, and not counting dream world he is the best.

Flareon should have been a special attacker and Jolteon a physical attacker, I think.

What I really hate is the fact that North America has gotten no DW starters. You'd have to be lucky enough to either live in Japan or get one in a trade on the GTS....which has a 0.1% chance of happening

I felt the same way about Emboar. I was expecting a physical tank with high Attack and Defense; I got my Attack but, unfortunately, the number for the Defense was invested in the Sp. Attack instead.

You don't need to play competitively to play or enjoy themed teams. It's even better in-game, since you can benefit without the added rush of maximizing all your time. Just have a Poke start off with TR + Uturn on battles where you want it to outspeed.

I've always been very disappointed that Camerupt isn't nearly as bulky as it looks to be. Fire/Ground is actually a pretty neat typing, either for a defensive tank or a fast attacker. Camerupt is obviously not the latter, but it has trouble being the former as well. It's a camel and a mountain, surely even one of those should point towards longevity?

I'm not talking about making things competitively viable, I'm talking about what I thought they would have due to looks. Jolteon looked like it would run fast and use physical attacks to slam into things to me, and Flareon looked like it would use special attacks for whatever reason.
