Except that's not true. Most players don't give a shit and use legendaries as a shield or backup plan for the elite four when raising weaker Pokémon or when they're underlevelled. Take this from a hardcore tourneyfag who's been RNGing since 2010 and uses Stealth Rock.

Umm, I hate to break it to you OP, but the games are clearly decided which version you SHOULD be getting.

X is the defualt for Male chromosomes

Y is the default for female chromosones

You're free to buy which ever version you want, but the intended choice is there for a reason. All hail glorious X version (Everyone who gives a shit about pokemon is gonna buy both versions anyways.)

I actually am getting Y because I find Xerneas obnoxious and complicated in it's style. I still think he's good, just not enough of a bro for me yet. Yveltal may be edgy and tough, but he has a coolness about him in a way that many may not see. Sure Yveltal looks all dragon-y, dark, and emo, but I judge Pokemon on three things.

Design.
Bro-like ability
Playability.

We cannot forget that we don't know their types yet. Maybe Y's mascot will be a dark/flying or something, and maybe X will be fairy.

But it doesn't matter. We all have our preferences. Maybe Y will have something that makes it slighter better than X, such as a super good pokemon X doesn't get. I reserved Y yesterday, and have no regrets.

However, if X gets a Braviary-level bro for me (who loves Braviary) I will be sad a bit.

Because the games are sort of exactly the same (as far as we know) besides the legendaries.

What else could you even base your version choice on right now?
