I've always had this thought that the Gomba from Mario would be a fire type then evolve into Koopa and then evolve into Bowser, who would be Fire/Dark

Well I'm actually working on a ridiculous Fire Red romhack which replaces at least the first 151 pokemons with Mario characters. starter are:
>Nipper >Piranha >Petey
>Bob-Omb >Bub-Ulk >Big-Omb
>Blooper >Bubblooper >Gooper

Petey is grass/flying, Bub-Ulk and Big-Omb are fire/steel, Gooper is water/poison.

Bowser replaces Moltres, has legendary status and is dragon/fire.

Also, Shy-Guy has my favorite evolution tree. Let me paste this part of the list I made. Those numbers are their Pokedex numbers, and their evolution method is in parentheses:

>30. SHY-GUY - normal
>31. FAT-GUY - normal (happiness)
>32. FLY-GUY - normal/flying (trade)
>33. MUFTI-GUY - normal/grass (leaf stone)
>34. PYRO-GUY - normal/fire (fire stone)
>35. PIRATE-GUY - normal/water (water stone)
>36. SPEAR-GUY - normal/electric (thunder stone)
>37. BOO-GUY - normal/ghost (moon stone)
>38. MEDI-GUY - normal/psychic (sun stone)
