If those entries are the truth, though, there might be another explanation.
In Frankenstein, the creature was not malicious from the start. He was rather kind, actually. However, because he looked hideous and fearsome, he was attacked or fled from whenever he showed himself to people.
This may be the case with ghost pokemon as well. They became evil because of human misunderstanding and consequent mistreatment. Banette is a prime example of that, but it could very well be the case for other ghosts.
