The glitches and broken gameplay mechanics in RBY didn't affect the gameplay for me because it was 1998 and I was 7. Gen I is still my favorite.

Not to mention Special making Hypno just as near unstoppable as Alakazam, but without Recover.

Special also makes Ninetales better than Arcanine

In Gen 1 the Special stat counted at both Special attack AND Special defense, so if you had a move that could raise the Special stat, (coughcoughAmnesia) you would do more damage with Special attacks AND take less damage from them (And then is back when certin type ONLY had Special attacks)

All attacks belonging to a Special type were Special. Until Gen IV.

Much of that can't be applied to Fire Red and Leaf Green

I like Gen I, it's my favorite, but I also like Gen IV and II and I like things about Gen III and Gen V.

Fire Red and Leaf Green are great games.
