I think he looks perfectly fine and cool. He was made more "sleek" and less pointy. It's a common practice to make an upgrade look more simple, smooth and shiny than it's predecessor.

I can see why you say that, but I think that it's sort of a matter of interpretation.

Scizor has a huge emphasis on sleekness. It's got a deep red metal casing around it's body that's meant to look seamless, where as Scyther is more wild looking. More dinosaur-esque. I think it's a matter of Sugimori's design choices.

Saw someone suggest that it's essentially a special variant of Scizor. Could totally see that, too.

Itd have access to Vaccuum Wave, so at the least, it'd have relatively good coverage. On a negative side, by being Special, U-turn wouldn't be nearly as viable. Hard to say without an ability or any knowledge of Fairy type though..

Onix is big and made of stone, hence high defence.

Pidgeot is a fast flying bird, hence high speed.

Gallade is thin and speedy looking, yet has garbage speed and great special defense. Purugly is an incredibly overweight cat with stubby limbs yet is faster than Latios. Gengar is round and bulky in design and has a super high speed stat.. same with Miltank. Leafeon is a simply designed and thin fox-like creature, yet has amazing defense. Uxie is small and fragile looking yet has great defenses on both sides.

Also, this Fairy/Bug evo is more bulky looking than Scizor, and Scizor is slow.

Magneton is an ordinary object and GF gave it fitting stats that FIT it.

Garchomp is pretty skinny yet it is stronger than Dragonite, a bulky powerful dragon.

I think that this would be a more natural evolution of Scyther, and it would have great attack and speed but awful defenses, mantaining the ninja-esque style of its prevo. Give it sniper, a fairy version of shadow claw and night slash, u turn and it could be the ultimate dragon slayer
