Just like the Simpsons, it can never progress anywhere and people constantly forget what happened just the other day.

My beef isn't with the format, it's that they can't choose what format to use. Shows of this nature often invariably have continuity, but then they decided to forgo continuity so that they could forward their ideals. Even when they no longer needed to do that, they kept doing it. Even now, this is nothing more than happy faffing about until they get to X/Y. I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled a retcon (and it is a retcon) AGAIN just so they can be safe. My problem is that you can either have continuity, or you don't. They seem more interested in going around in circles for all eternity. Why even pretend? The whole show should be DA at that rate. It would make little difference.
