Can we all agree that Black/White 2 are overall the greatest Pokemon games? Not only are they by far the most fleshed out in the series with a ton of content, but they also improve upon everything in past generations. The only thing they're missing are trivial features like Pokemon following you. What does /vp/ think?

BW2 is the second game where I scored over 200 hours

First was a Ruby ROM when I was 11 anf found out about pokémon games. My parents never got me a GB

Never played either one. Is there any reason to play it other than a new story mode? All the pokemon are the same (except for new Kyurem forms) and all the mechanics are too, so I didn't see any reason to go through the trouble.

My major problem with BW2 are the recycled locations and NPCs from BW, particularly early on in the game. On their own, BW2 are probably the bet games in the series, but when it comes to overall experience I preferred BW.

Also gen V doesn't have a Battle Frontier which is kind of shitty. For that reason alone I like Platinum and HG/SS a lot (although not as much as BW).

It's not like other 3rd versions, where it's basically a rehash. When you play through the story, you go through all the routes and cities in a different order. It's a completely different experience. And don't forget about the new cities, locations, characters, and general content.

BW2 have the subway, PWT, all of those legendaries and actual rewards for completing certain parts or all of the Pokedex

Lacks Platinum's challenge, and drops the ball with anything BW1 built up with story, but definitely one of the best. Lots of content, battle every gym almost leader, and great Pokemon selection. Shame about that bare bones rival.

Battle Subway is nowhere near as fun as Battle Frontier though. Honestly, it gets kind of boring after a while.

As for the PWT....Felt more like a less impressive version of the Battle Frontier I think.

I personally think BW > BW2. I think the story in BW2 was so weak in comparison to BW, it really disappointed me. Hugh is also arguably one of the worst/most annoying rivals.

If you're looking for something to hold you off until XY, then definitely go buy it. I got White back when it game out in 2011 and quickly was bored with it after completing the story. But just last month I picked up White 2 on a whim and it reinvigorated my interest in Pokemon. Personally, I thought it was just an all-around better game. Do some research if you want to know about the differences between BW and BW2 if you're concerned about what's new.

HG/SS felt like the most "complete" games to me. It was so fleshed out with all of Kanto to explore, the five battle facilities, the huge Safari Zone customization, etc

B2/W2 is pretty good when it comes to post-game content too though

It's the first time that the game actually took the first versions and changed more things than just some minor differences in story and what Pokemon you can encounter. Going by your logic I guess Crystal and Platinum were utter shit because they don't even try to change much. And there's no reason to make a third version or remakes of a shit game like GS

I lost interest in my most recent Crystal run right after Morty when I couldn't find any Pokemon I liked. I was trying to use a 6 Pokemon team, but I had to grind already to keep everything from being underleveled, and I only had 3 Pokemon. I was pissed off that I couldn't use a Mareep when I got to the route west of Ecruteak. Magnemite and Magneton were a piece of shit because the only Electric moves it could learn were Thundershock, Thunder, and Zap Cannon before the E4, and I'm not getting 5500 coins for Thunder.

Fuck Crystal. It was the only game that I completed with only my starter and a bunch of HM slaves because it was so slow paced.

I liked the region, the pokemon, the going back to kanto, the battling team rocket again, the battle tower, the encountering suicune and could name more, but they are all based on my opinion and if you can't accept that go see a doctor, because that means there is something seriously wrong with you.

They did some clever things with some of them though. I liked how on Route 1 in BW2 you fought youngsters and Lass's with level 60 early birds and rodents. And the NPC's on those routes that gave starting tips in BW would say "wait you've got eight badges you don't need to know this!"

I found Gen V in general pretty tedious and frustrating. Way too many arbitrary steps back. No VS Seeker, no always run button, no battle frontier and a complete waste of a touch screen. It's pretty grim when you miss the days it was just taken up by a big clock most of the time.

There was no need for a battle frontier with the World Tournament, Battle Subway, and such. Besides, I really dislike the gen 4 battle frontiers and felt they disgraced gen 3's. I'll be fine if we never see it again. Unless Hoenn remakes.

As an anon whos played every gen I have to say BW2 suceeded at their purpose. To be great games. Sure they had some faults C-Gear was great in theory but christ that execution was terrible.
But name a pokemon game that hasn't.
I can sympathasize with the anons who say the lost interest near endgame. It happened to me too. But after a few month I picked it back up and played. For hours because it refreshed on just how great pokemon is.
BW2 suceeded at being good sequels to good games.
Storywise it was great.
Graphically it was great.
Selection, it was great.
The games are great.

Better than HG/SS
