>Grass to Grass/Ground>Grass is effective and resists on Water and weak to Fire>Ground is effective on Steel and Fire, still weak to Fire, and is neutrally hit by Fighting and Water>Fire to Fire/Fighting>Fire is effective and resists on Grass, is weak to Water>Fighting is effective on Steel while Fire is still effective on Grass, Fire is still weak to Water and is weak to Ground>Water to Water/Steel>Water is effective and resists on Fire and is weak to Grass>Steel is neutral to Grass and Fire while still weak to Fighting and Ground, Water still effective on Fire, gets Ice moves to use on GrassMeanwhile, your hypothetical trio
>Grass/Poison>Is weak to Fire, Ice, and Flying>Is supposed to resist Water>Fire/Dragon>Is weak only to Ground, Rock, and Dragon (none are types of starters)>Is supposed to be weak to Water; is not>Still takes neutral damage from Ice instead of being weak>Water/Ice>Is still weak to Grass, that's really it>Is supposed to resist Fire but takes neutral damage from it and Dragon insteadIt wouldn't work. Problem isn't solved. Gen IV was pretty smart about the typings (aside from lol ice for Torterra), Fire/Dragon is an overpowered typing for a starter dynamic.
Unless Water/Steel. Maybe.
