He has a pretty rounded out team, but he can barely use it correctly, bringing out a ferrothorn against a fire type. Whenever he was confused he'd grab his headband, pull it back, and hurt himself with it to get a new idea, taking up about 5 seconds of the show. He brought 5 pokemon to the official match, and right when it seemed like Ash was going to win, his Riolu evolved and kicked Pikachu's ass. The worst part is, there was a point when they were both down, both doing that "come on get up" thing, and his Lucario juts got up like it was nothing. I know it's the same shit Ash does, but he's the main character, he has an excuse.
