I would be glad because it would mean that even if we can't transfer from Gen 5 then I can still finish the Pokedex, but would also be mad because all that time I spent getting all the Pokemon in Gen 5 would be wasted.

Huge enough to be home to literally every Pokemon species to date? I don't care if that'd be "cool," it's just unrealistic. Plus, the assortment of what Pokemon inhabit a region are a part of said region's flavor.

Some of the methods of catching Pokemon in post-game are so fucking arbitrary already; I can only imagine the hoops you'd have to jump through to get all 700+ in a single game.

I agree with you, not to mention catching every single legendary would be really weird even if they have a special room/cave each.

It would be cool to have no need of transferring, but the region (or regions) would need to be incredibly huge in order for the number of monsters spawning in each area to not feel forced.

Unova manages this already. You could come pretty close in BW2. I'm sure they could pull such a feat off with Kalos. Also keep in mind that OP's statement doesn't exclude event-given legendaries.

What if the region had all it's own pokemon with pokemon from other gens mixed in; enough pokemon from other places for there to be a lot but not enough for it to feel crowded?
And then when you finish the game, you get to explore more of kalos with more other-gen pokemon and some rarer kalos pokemon. You also unlock the ability to go to 1 or two places form each region and catch the rest of the pokemon there. The rest of the gen I's from the gen I places, the rest of gen II, etc.

If it was after E4 I would:
1) Get nervous that it meant no cross gen transfer
