How did you react when you played your first Pokemon game past Gold and Silver? I skipped Ruby/Sapphire and went straight to Diamond/Pearl, nonetheless I was still blown back by the jump in art quality all, compared to Gen 1 to Gen 2.

I imagine I'll relive that feeling when X and Y come out.

I remember being REALLY fucking pissed that there was no day or night.

Was also pretty down on the fact that R/S didn't have 3 regions, something quite a few expected after G/S bringing in 2

Crystal was my first Pokémon game, after playing it and going back to gen1 i got my hands on Ruby, and it completely blew my mind, the massive graphical and sound upgrade, the new moves and type combinations (fucking Shedinja), diving, contests, abilities etc. It was an overload of new content, it's kinda what i'm expecting X/Y to be.

I was extremely dissapointed. I waited forever for nightime in the game and it never happened even though the game has an ingame clock. There weren't special events for certain days too. The Pokemon sprites had more advanced graphics like I was expecting because that's the least you can do if you move to a newer console (I dunno how people can be impressed by that but whatever) and the Pokemon sprites were lame compared to yellow and gsc (the pokemon sprites were posing compared to rse were the pokemon just stand there doing nothing) not to mention the sprites didn't move like in crystal. When I found oout they took the backwards compatibility I flipped my shit.

Part of the reason why R/S/E gets so much flak is because of the regression that can immediately be felt after having played GSC.

The night/day cycle and animated sprites, for example, were sorely missing.

I did not play RUBY until 1 week after it came out but my bro got SAPPHIRE for his birthday. I would watch him play that while I played YELLOW/CRYSTAL while going/staying at the mountains in georgia. I remeber I kept restarting RUBY because I was an airhead back then.

I remember hearing about ruby and sapphire by my schools library. They had a promotional bookmark, and when i saw it i was completely blown away about how colorful it looked and was really excited about double battles. I still remember playing sapphire for the first time. The part where birch gets chased still gets me pumped. They should bring that back on how you choose your starter. Being forced in a situation where you need to think fast and quickly grab a starter
