>>12797099>Gen 1's poorer balance isnt a subjective thing.Gen 2 had bad level scaling, and Gen 4 didn't have a new fire type (probably one of the most basic and needed types in the game) that could be caught in the wild, which would've been incredibly helpful in three of the gyms. Both have worse balance than the first gen in everything but the metagame, which I couldn't even begin to give less of a fuck about.

If I'm playing anything before the DS games, it'll be based on how enjoyable I find them in their current state, so I'd play through R/B dozens of times before I'd touch a GBA Pokemon game.
