I finally fucking got it /vp/. That goddamn shiny Starly is mine. After a week of careless mistakes and Bidoof cockblocks I am victorious.

Well, mostly victorious. My synchro Ralts failed to synchro that bitch and it ended up with a bashful nature, and I was so ecstatic at the shiny patch that I didn't give a shit that the patch was on the edge so it ended my chain. But goddammit I'm happy anyway.

My first shiny was actually a random encounter Machop in Pearl, I'm just proud of this because it required some effort to get. Resetting the radar is tedious as all fuck too.

I got a shiny Darumaka with a - sp atk + sp def, so useful in-game.

I also got a Shiny Piplup when breeding (not masuda method) with Modest nature and 31 sp atk IVs, pretty neat..

I've put way more time into White. I only had like a dozen hours in White 2, the game got old quickly and I didn't even bother to finish it. It felt like playing the same game twice with a few minor changes, and I don't give a shit about the story, so. I still play White often, and I have no reason to play White 2 over it.

Both proper non-Red Gyarados shinies I've gotten have been in Gen 5 - the first was a shiny Patrat in Route 2.

Traded it away for a shiny Houndoom which I suspect was hacked unfortunately. Managed to find a shiny Darumaka on Black 2 though about 6 months ago, and was over the moon. Darmanitan is an awesome shiny, couldn't be happier.

Hope to Masuda/Shiny Charm (eventually) a shiny Beldum in the near future.

I've had a shiny rhydon, a shiny tangela and a shiny bidoof.

2 shinies I didn't catch, one was a tangela in the safari zone and it ran away, the other was a poochyena right at the start of my emerald game, but it was so early I didn't have any pokeballs yet.

Only encountered one pokemon at the 1/8192 odds, which was way back in Platinum - a shiny Geodude. The rest of my shinies are from White 2 after getting the shiny charm. I know it increases the odds dramatically, but after hearing stories of people still having to encounter 8,000 to 13,000 pokemon WITH the shiny charm before seeing anything, I feel I've been pretty lucky. These are my latest additions: this Nuzleaf I found while I was trying to encounter an Altaria, and this Swablu I hatched after working at MMing her for about a week. Both of these were in the same day - this is the second time I've seen two shinies in a day, the first time being when I encountered a shiny Petilil, and then hatched a shiny Drifloon in two eggs using MM.

All the same I found Black 2 to even be better than Black because of I dunno- the move tutors. The much more accessible breeding tactics. Just about all the little improvements they made and tweaks. Not to mention event Pokemon/DW stuff.

So yeah. I would say I love both Unova games, and if you had to sell one I'd say bring your stuff over from White to White 2. No offense to the originals, but the sequels were much improved (if not in plot completely) with some mechanics.
