Is anyone else tired of the same grim-edgy types all the time in the Elite 4? I hope X and Y have a somewhat original Elite 4 again like DPPt, and even that still had Psychic.

Personally I'm hoping for a Normal or Grass member.
Also, a Dark gym leader, fuck.

Just had an epic brainwave. What if the E4 members were all weather teams?

Hail, sun, sandstorm and finally rain (with drizzle+swiftswim on the team).

I think it'd be pretty interesting to see in action.

What if the Elite 4 was replaced with an anime-esque Pokemon League tournament, where you start out with only one Pokemon and are allowed to use more as you get further into the tournament, with randomly generated trainers, and things like double battle rounds and random weather effects (similar to the water/grass/rock/ice field thing they have in the anime) in later rounds.

Am I the only one who noticed that every Elite Four shares at least one type with the previous Elite Four. The only exception is Gen 3, however they do have Drake, and Lance used dragon types in Gen 2.

Yes I am. I think Gen 5 was the worst with Fight/Ghost/Psychic/Dark. I really hope Gen 6 has a bit more original and creative E4, something like Electric/Flying/Grass/Normal. Fairy would be cool too but that's probably going to be a gym rather than an E4 member.

Or how about each of them have 10 or so different sets and however many pokemon they have are randomly selected? And each time too, not decided for the whole game.

Although I do like the E4 specializing in a type or two. Maybe the champion's team wouldn't be as random so that it's more balanced.

I think these types were chosen because, in combination with dual-typing and high stats, they are more difficult to beat than other types. I mean, until now Dragon only had two weaknesses, and the others have more but you don't find Pokemon of the stronger types easily. AND add to THAT the fact that you can't switch out teams between battles, so you end up with one Pokemon with both STAB and advantage for each member of the league, plus a free choice. You would be very lucky to find a single Pokemon that would be useful for 2 members, let alone have a well-trained one, without planning far ahead.
