Should I work on this guy, or continue breeding? Her defenses are gonna be pretty weak but everything else is perfect...

Two 31s is ezmode with a Power item and an Everstone. If I'm doing a serious breeding project, I'm not content if it doesn't at least have two defensive stats above 20 and nothing under 15 or so. Ideally passing down three perfect IVs, but that's a fuckload of eggs if you also need a specific ability or gender.

How are your breeding projects going, /vp/? I just got a Modest Hustle NidoranMale with 27/18/24/31/25/31 after only a few hours of work. Was hoping to pass down a perfect HP IV as well, but this'll do nicely.

Keep on breeding. That HP and those Defs are subpar.
3x31 IVs aren't that much of a pain to get anyway. Go for 31 HP and hope for nice Def & Sp.Def values.

unfortunately I don't have the SATK or SPE power items, so i can only do this with good parents and an everstone.

this is the last pokemon on my team to breed and train, so i'm pretty happy

After that thread a few days ago on shiny hunting during this weekend, I decided to start breeding for a shiny Aron with Head Smash and good IVs without using a shiny charm. I most likely won't get it, but I've got time to kill.

Get one, it just takes a single basic Subway clear, which should take about fifteen minutes if you're mostly done with breeding a decent team anyway, and it makes both breeding and EVing infinitely faster.

No gengar is OHKO by pretty much any non resisted move from any non defensive pokemon in OU. I would breed some more and then trade them so you do not have to IV other pokemon in your team

You could just keep that Garchomp for recreational ventures, i.e. battling opponents in-game and not competitively.
EV training also only takes an hour at max if you do it right, though it won't help much if you want to play competitively - it'll get outsped by the next Garchomp you see.

This is coming from someone who has a Milotic with a horrid 3 IVs in Special Attack and Special Defense. I still play with him in-game because he's my bro, but I've bred one with near perfect IVs to use competitively since then.

on a pokemon like garchomp yeah. it's not that i don't want to train a new pokemon, i've ev trained hundreds of pokemon before. it's that it doesn't really make a difference, i've played with him before and the only time it ever matters is if i'm trying to outspeed something. i always play him with his speed in mind, it's a handicap but it really isn't that important

One of Garchomp's best assets is its speed. You're bound to get outsped and slaughtered if you try to use it in a real battle.

i don't think it's that big of a deal considering he's choice banded, so it's a lot more situational. if it becomes that big of a problem that it keeps losing me battles, then i'll have to retrain a new one, but for now i'll use him
