I usually hate it when people say (insert Pokemon here) needs an evolution/improvement, but Tropius I can agree with. It just looks so powerful, especially when you run into it's sprite for the first time in R/S. And then you catch it and find out just how terribly mistaken you were. Sucks, man.

Well, the "leak" thread says there is a new Grass/Dragon whose basic stage can be found really early. It isn't too farfetched to believe that Tropius gets a babby stage and a dragon evolution.

This gun needs to be bumped to 1st stage tier mon.
It's design is great for a final evo.
So stats we have now would be the for tha baby (ok you could make his speed lower a little).

Tropius stats after this change:
HP: 120
Attack: 80
Defense: 100
Sp.Atk: 80
Sp.Def: 100
Speed: 51.

This guy. But I don't want them to change his stats, just to lower everyone else's stats. So many gen 1 pokemon got left behind after the spec/phys split and gamefreak started pumping out mons that specialize in attack or special attack. Realistically a pokemon's effective base stats is HP + Defence + special Defence + Speed + (highest between attack and special attack) - (Lowest between attack and special attack)

Actually those two examples you provided do have logic behind them. Antlions in their adult forms are very similar to dragonflies. Altaria is based off of a peng, which is often portrayed as having a dragon's head and whiskers.

True, but it still makes sense that it is. It has always been in the fairy egg group, and its early concept art resembles fairy (pic related)

You're arguing that it's a sauropod so it's impossible and/or unreasonable for it to get a dragon evo, but it's important to remember that sauropods can't fly, nor do they even have wings to begin with. Tropius may share qualities with a sauropod, but that doesn't make it one. It's a pokemon.
