Had a Thunder Gym as Number Eight, the best representation for an element so destructive.

Had a massive wealth of Pokemon available from the start.
Had more things to do during the progression during the game.

- Everything was new and mysterious. Since there was nothing known about the games then I'd believe anything my friends told me, like if you lose to Sabrina it's game over, Mew under Vermilion truck, etc. I spent a lot of time investigating these things.
- Only 151 pokémon needed to complete the pokédex.

- A few of the tales my friends told me were actually true this time (like the Clefairies and Moon Stone thing on monday nights).
- Night and day/clock gave a whole new dimension to the games.
