Pokémon Direct

No.12835237 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Why did Iwata put emphasis on these 3 pokémon during the Pokémon Direct months ago?
This caught my attention since I first watched it. Iwata mentioned all sort of things in the "history of pokémon" introduction, which included:

>How there were always delays between Japanese and western launches, revealing later that X/Y would have a worldwide release.
>How connectivity has evolved in the series, from the Link Cable to Wi-Fi, preparing our bodies for the 3DS's new features like StreetPass and SpotPass
>How graphics and gameplay evolved from the series, adding color in GBC, mentioning the GBA's powerful hardware, later showing the new 3D graphics
>The first starter pokémon and their evolutions, to explain the 1st gen boxarts

But he also mentioned something that felt out of place, at least for me: The legendary beasts trio and how they were roaming through the region. Also stating that many of us have probably tried to catch them.

Just what was the point of that? Why not other legendaries? Why does Nintendo feel that remembering this is important before the X and Y announcement?
