/vp/. I literally can't build teams. Even if I try gimmicks (mono type, weather, etc) I just can't build successful teams in any tier (OU, UU, RU, and NU). Any help?

Don't pick mons for your teams based on just getting a balance of many types - that's important yeah, but it's a rookie mistake. You'll end up with a bunch of decent standalone mons that don't work well together. My best advice if you're kind of new to competitive is to pick one or two you really want to use in the tier, and then honestly look at Smogon's recommendation for what works well with those mons. They do usually know what they're talking about, and when you get good you can fiddle around with it more. Smogon is probably still down tho so use Google Cache to see the pages

but honestly, r u sure its not the teams, and just u not being able to battle that well?
i suggest watching narrated battle son youtube, they give you a vague idea of what's going on, since the learning the meta is probably that hardest part of the game

good fighting type physical sweeper is lucario
give him 252 atk/speed w/ crunch extreme speed close combat and either bullet punch (not really any need for another priority but hey whatever floats ur boat) earthquake or really whatever

infernape fits the fire or fight type, i find mix ape to be pretty good
overheat, CC, mach punch/vacuum wave stone edge or earthquake w/ max atk and speed

i got more ideas if u wanna hear em

champ is good but no good for sweeping if thats what u want
vaporeon has hydration, it's pretty good in ou, wish/protect/scald/ice beam can work

dpends on the team but reuniclus can wreck shop when set up right, give him life orb and magic guard w/ psychic/focus blast/ recover/ and maybe trick room or calm mind

it really all depends on ur other teammates, so i suggest pick one and build off from there

I would start by finding a simple OU team and using it yourself. you'll get more experienced at the game which will help teambuilding

Pick a few that you like, and find a moveset that works well on them. Then just keep experimenting with other pokémon you want to try until you get a team that works well. One good thing to do is look at the major threats of the tier and then find a pokémon that counters a few of them if possible. It should help you win more games at the very least. NU is quite a nice tier to start in I find, there are a lot to choose from and you don't have to run the same cookie cutter team to win.
