The game is pretty much completed by now. They are probably in their final step, correcting bugs, tweaking a few things and hyping the fuck out of it

Did you completely miss the part of the Q&A where they stated they introduced Fairy--type because dragons were too strong?

Or that part where they revealed they have too guys that test pokémon and their movesets to see if anything is way too Overpowered?

GF's definition of balance is much more loose than Smogon's but they have that care.

Also their version of balance also includes single player campaign balance. Plenty of Pokemon are very useful for playing through the story or against some AI challenges but not so hot for competitive play.
