>>12845248Yes there is; to show emotions. And before you go "but muh reaction images", those apply to a whole post, while an emoticon is usually only applied to part of a post. Using an emoticon can also be more appropriate/effective than a reaction image, depending on the context.
To clarify, I'm certainly not saying reaction images are stupid or anything, but there's really no reason why we can't have both. It is indeed an image board, but it does have a text function as well. Or should we stop using text altogether?
I'm also not saying you HAVE to use emoticons, of course. That would be silly. But that doesn't mean you have any reason whatsoever to get mad when someone else uses one.
