There's no such thing as a good Pokemon Wii game. Get her Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon Gale of Darkness. Both are on the Gamecube, both are cheap, both are playable on the Wii, both are better than any handheld Pokemon game.

This. Battle Revolution is just a battle simulator really, and Pokepark isn't nearly as good as the GC games.

They're still RPGs but they have a different, somewhat more serious story than the handheld games.
You can't catch Pokemon in the wild, just "snag" them from other trainers (it's explained why/how in game)
The atmosphere, music, and characterization in these games are great, so I readily recommend them.

They are RPG like the portable Pokemon games, but instead of catching Pokemon in the wild you catch/steal them from trainers. Well, you can actually catch wild Pokemon in XD, but there is a limited selection of them. There is also Battle Revolution for Wii, but it is nothing but battling using rented Pokemon (unless you have a DS Pokemon game).

Oh, and Colosseum is the first one, XD is the second. Play them in order, since the stories are related.

You ever watch Trigun? Does the name Vash the Stampede ring a bell? Well, you play as the Pokemon world version of him in a region based off of Arizona. You have an Espeon and an Umbreon and you save the region from two evil teams. Team Snagem which you use to be a member of and Copher or something along those lines, who are behind the creation of Shadow Pokemon. You collect the Shadow Pokemon including Ho-Oh and the three beasts.

5 years after the end of Colosseum, we see some little kid named Michael. Probably 13 - Wes, the Colosseum character, is 18 btw. This game is a sequel to Colosseum with the evil team back and this time they have this bad boy.

The story isn't hugely important with these games though. I would recommend getting both, but if you only want one then I would reccomend XD since it has a better Pokemon selection and more areas.

More important than in most of the handheld games.
But yeah, XD is preferable over Colosseum if you can only get one.

They aren't very long and are probably decent priced nowadays. Especially in a bundle on Amazon or something, I'd be surprised to hear that doesn't exist. And the story is important in every game, casual, plus playing both makes it better.

Sounds good, but holy shit they're expensive on Amazon. Will definitely have to look around because I'm not paying that much for a Gamecube game.
