Just going by the generational pattern, 6 is going to introduce around 100 new pokemon, including evolutions and pre-evolutions of existing ones.

Porygon2 and Z may not have had any anime appearances, but they both got a decent chuck of merchandise well after the fact.
Porygon and later Porygon2 were partial mascots of Pokemon Center Online until its closing (along with Pikachu and Magnemite/Pichu respectively).

I would love it, but it involves creativity and taking advantage of the hardware the games are on, so we probably won't get it.
Anyway, its gimmick wouldn't really work if it shows up anywhere but on a 3D screen.

We also got a new Mewtwo form. Given that they're explicitly pandering to older fans it's likely there will be more cross-gen evolutions.

GameFreak are always creative and constantly take advantage of hardware. In fact, Pokemon as a franchise is always pushing the boundaries of the handheld console more than any other game in terms of technology.
