Fire in pokemon isnt strictly about literal fire. Rotom heat is a fire type, its an electrical oven who's only fire move is overheat.

Groudon creates large amounts of heat and learns several fire type moves and is Ground type. And considering that this "heat" that pistol shrimps make is momentarily 5000 degrees Kelvin, nearly as hot as the sun and kills fish instantly on impact. There have been Pokemon typings based on looser concepts than this.

Water/Fire would be a cool and unique typing. Don't take it to literally or try to apply real world logic to it because GameFreak can pick and choose what parts of the real world counterpart to use. I for one would like it to be a Water/Fire Pokemon rather than say a Water/Fighting Crawdaunt like Pokemon but I'll use it regardless of typing.
